The weather is getting so lovely so I decided to crack out my favourite shorts on Monday (see outfit post above!). I spent a lovely day in town with one of my lovely best friends, Ami! I bought a sleeveless check shirt and 'Norwegian Wood' by Haruki Murakami, both from a charity shop, and some false eyelashes to wear to Garden party. Hope you've all been enjoying the sunshine!!

Style icon Sunday: Molly Ringwald in 'Pretty in Pink'

After watching Pretty in Pink (1986) for the second time this month, I think it would be safe to say that I have absolutely fallen in love with Molly Ringwald as Andy. Just look at the glasses, the socks and the collars!! What more could you ever want?! If I could spend my days in wayfarer sunglasses, blazers over shirts with lacey collars and floral socks with brogues and leggings, well then, I would be one of the happiest humans alive! I've been considering sewing lace to a few of my socks for a while now but this has given me the push that I need and over summer (along with shortening my Laura Ashley dress and learning how to roller-skate) my project is to finally make my sock adorable and adorned with lace. Have any of you got any interesting projects for over summer? I would love to know what you are all up to!! Love as always, xx

Here's my outfit from yesterday! I didn't go anywhere particularly exciting but I wanted any excuse to take my heart print tights out for a spin. Having spent all day at the library today, Annie, Ami and myself had a lovely girly evening in watching Bridget Jones' Diary and Notting Hill (but main dribbling over Hugh Gant, because he is just divine!).
I painted my nails whilst dribbling over Hugh Grant; I felt about five painting them alternate colours but I'm really happy with the result!! I love the purple pastel colours I've used with the pink. Nail varnish is such a distraction from essay writing!

Also, I love the spring/summer colour palette in Look magazine this week. Personally, I wouldn't be able to wear the yellows and oranges but imagine how lovely they'd look in the sunshine whilst on a picnic under a tree! The blues and lilacs are my favourite and I would love to embrace this trend over the summer! I hope you are all well and looking forward to some sunshine as much as I am!!

I've had a lovely day with the beautiful miss Annie of The Vintage Teapot spent dress shopping. Annie bought a dress for garden party (which you will be sure to see soon on her blog) As you can see (above), I have taken a proper photograph of my dress for garden party, I couldn't be more excited!! Also, the lovely Annie bought me this beautiful dress (below) that I have been eyeing up all term as my belated birthday present! Thank you lovely!!
PS. The shoes are my new babies. They are Topshop and I am just in love!!

Guaranteed, my week is sure to be filled with essay and novels, but I will definitely will be sparing and evening or two to go bowling and for a night out for my dear friend, Charlotte's, Birthday; Happy Birthday lovely!!

11 May 2012

Having spent my morning listening to Melanie and Joni Mitchell instead of writing my essays, I couldn't help but feel completely 1970s. I walked into the kitchen to be greeted by the usual boyish banter of 'You're so indie' but today apparently I look like a 'pagan'. Not entirely complaining, feeling a little ethereal today so I guess it fits with my mood. I hope you are all having a lovely day. I'm supposedly going out for drinks with some of the girls tonight so that shall be fun! Bring on the vino!

I know it's been a while since I've blogged, so I thought I would show my face again.
Apologies for being rubbish on the upkeep! Unfortunately, essays are beginning to drain me of any motivation for being in university. All I can think about is pulling my roller-skates and spending my days in the sunshine with ice-cream and a particularly sweet guy before dragging the girls out for wine in the evening heat...however, two essays and the beginning of a novel are keeping me from these fairly idealistic summer plans. There are so many exciting events heading my way so I really should use them to channel my inner academic and actually start writing!! The fxu Garden party is only around the corner and, luckily, I already have a dress lined up and some beautiful shoes on their way with Mr postman. After that it's back to wonderful Wales to see Sarah Jarosz in concert and then back to Swansea to see the family and friends again; I could not be any more excited! So, lots of events to report on over the next month or two and I would absolutely love to hear what everyone else's exciting summer plans are too!

Above is my dress for the Garden party. It was a birthday present from my mammy and I am so glad that I have such a great opportunity to wear it! But anyway, its back to the essay writing (and essay eating), have a lovely weekend!!
